Food Access

AMI is dedicated to training farmers and gardeners, bolstering the local food economy, and improving access to healthy, nutrient-dense food in our communities. Food grown by AMI is incorporated into educational and health promotion projects, donated to hunger relief, and is available for sale at local outlets.

The AMI Farm at Augusta Health is a joint venture of AMI and Augusta Health to raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating and sustainable growing. Eighty percent of produce grown is dedicated for hospital projects and programs including: farm to cafeteria, Food Farmacy, and partnership with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank's Fresh Pantry initiative. AMI both sells and donates the remaining twenty percent.

Produce and plant sales from this farm support AMI projects and programs. Find food from the AMI Farm at Augusta Health available for sale at the Local Food Drive-Thru, Staunton-Augusta Health Department Farmers Market, and additional pop-up locations.

We are sold out of 2020 CSA Shares.  Thank you to all who purchased!

AMI will be offering CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares again this year, beginning in June. Each week, members will receive a box full of the best of our harvest from the Mountain Farm. CSA is a way to help offset the costs of farming, which tend to be higher at the beginning of the season, through community buy-in. Shares may be purchased with a one-time payment of $375 for 15 weeks of fresh vegetables grown using organic practices ($25 per box). $5 per box is considered a tax-deductible donation to AMI, which supports our educational and outreach programs, coming to a $75 donation for the season. Shares run June 26 to October 2 and will be distributed at the Highland County Farmers’ Market. Questions? Learn more here or contact lola@amifellows.org.
